Our Philosophy of Care
At Covenant Woods, the Philosophy of Care begins with our residents. Each resident has a customized Plan of Care that identifies the resident's needs and documents changes in resident patterns. The Covenant Woods Care Associates who are charged with delivering the plans are specially trained to interact with elderly residents facing memory loss. They are trained to be positive, gentle, and encouraging while being very patient and aware of resident abilities.
The many and varied structured activities are designed to include both physical and mental stimulation. They are scheduled throughout each day to keep residents occupied, engaged, and challenged. The staff includes licensed nurses who are on-site around the clock so that residents receive proper medications at the appropriate times. They also coordinate care and communicate with the residents' personal physicians to ensure continuity of resident care.
The dietary staff prepares nutritious meals and snacks that are tasty, well-balanced, and that can accommodate the broad range of eating skills encountered in persons with varying forms of dementia. Meals and snacks are enjoyed with staff members who "model" eating behaviors to enhance nutrition and hydration opportunities, which can be critical issues for residents with dementia.
